Palmer Johnson has a great opportunity for a Sales Engineer on our Industrial Products Sales team. We are seeking someone with a strong alignment to our company values, a customer-centric approach, mechanical aptitude, and eagerness to grow our customer base. This position is located in Sun Prairie, WI, and will be a hybrid work environment, working remotely from their home office and in person.

About the Opportunity

The Sales Engineer is responsible for sales and business development of our industrial products line including gearboxes, hydraulic pump drives, hydrostatic transmissions, clutches, and PTOs. This role will also facilitate a smooth and efficient transfer of projects, programs, and market or customer needs directly from a sales position or opportunity to a production team. This is accomplished by directly supporting sales teams through delivering technical presentations, explaining products or services to existing or prospective customers, acquiring project design inputs, building scopes of supply, developing cost estimates, gathering sufficient and reliable data during the sales process, and overall ensuring that this data is clearly translated to production.

  • Do you have 3+ years of inside/outside sales engineer experience?
  • Do you have experience in the off-highway industry/mechanical aptitude? Automotive, Industrial Drivetrain, Hydraulics, Engine, and/or off-highway
  • Do you have experience working with gearbox, transmission, or clutch products?
  • Do you have a passion for working with customers and overseeing projects?
  • Do you have a sales mindset and are goal-oriented?
  • Do you have problem-solving and critical thinking skills to provide best-in-class solutions for our customers and business?
  • Are you professional in all interactions including emails, phone, and in-person?
  • Are you able to learn new systems, have above-average computer proficiencies, and work within multiple programs? Salesforce and/or P21 experience is a plus.
  • Are you able to multi-task, work with a sense of urgency, request help when needed, and be a self-starter?
  • Do you have a valid driver's license?
